Siemens Technology is looking for a dynamic Senior Expert (m/f/d) to join our Sustainable Automation Solutions Research Group and support our Siemens business units and end customers in Austria and Europe. The right person will have a strong technical background in IT and OT technologies and a passion for designing industrial solutions from a connectivity / driver level up to AI-based processing pipelines, SCADA and Manufacturing Execution Systems from concept to completion!

You will research in the area of industrial software and automation systems with focus on intelligent systems using machine learning and robotic technologies.

  • Drive evolving Research Roads for industrial vertical integration and AI infrastructure for automation, integrating industrial workflows from sensors and controllers to MES and PLM level within the company and together with external customers

  • Complete technical solution co-creation for the development and implementation of customer solutions, ideate, architect, design, implement and deploy end-to-end systems

  • Define, research, and implement AI-based solutions in manufacturing industries, integrating with MES level components for intelligent traceability, quality analytics, recipe management and workflow orchestration

  • Focus on architecting and implementing connectivity and analytics solutions integrated between shopfloor and MES level and drive their business and industry adaptation

  • Lead technical teams and projects consisting of other Research Scientists, Software Developers, industry customers, business unit and research partners and system integrators on developing end-to-end industrial automation solutions

  • Consult with appropriate groups inside and outside of Siemens AG for complex domestic and international projects

What you need to make real what matters.

  • Master’s degree in software/system engineering, computer science, information technology, electrical engineering or similar (PhD is a plus)

  • Programming skills: Java, Python, or similar. At minimum authority in one language and good working knowledge in another. Target operating systems: Linux and Windows.3+ years of experience in implementing industrial solutions in manufacturing environments, especially MES and shopfloor integration

  • 3+ years of experience on SW product development processes for Industrial AI

  • Skills in agile software/system engineering methodology und technologies for large-scale distributed systems, edge computing and cloud systems (AWS, Azure), e.g., microservices, event-streaming/messaging, container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes), DevOps

  • Experience building applications using deep learning frameworks like Keras, Tensorflow, PyTorch in either production or research settings

  • Has experience with the machine learning product lifecycle as well as runtime integration and performance optimization

  • Knowledge in Siemens Software solutions (e.g. Industrial Edge & AI, Opcenter, Tecnomatix ProcessSimulate, Totally Integrated Automation portfolio, PLCSim Adv.) is a plus

What we offer.

Our compensation and benefits package includes a competitive base annual salary starts at min. €63.738,- (fulltime based) and can substantially raise based on your already achieved education and experience levels.
