Boehringer Ingelheim Application Landscape Owner (m/f/d) in Vienna, Austria
The position
Computational Biology and Digital Sciences (gCBDS) is a global organization across multiple sites at Boehringer Ingelheim: Vienna (Austria), Biberach (Germany), and Ridgefield (USA). We are currently seeking an (Associate) Principal Scientist Application Landscape Owner to manage the current ecosystem of computational biology applications and development processes from the R&D business side. This involves - in collaboration with functions in corporate IT - collecting and prioritizing business needs, managing the stakeholder landscape, and contributing to a consolidated tool and application landscape. This role is critical in ensuring that our computational tools and resources are effectively aligned with our research goals and operational needs.
The successful candidate has extensive experience in managing a complex stakeholder landscape and in the structuring of an application landscape. The landscape owner will work within a dedicated team, whose mission is to provide guidance to various functions within the research organization, on how to fit specifications and requirements into existing and future frameworks. Hence, the role acts as a link between the research and IT organization, being fully responsible for communication, dissemination, and the management of the requests.
Tasks & responsibilities
Collecting and prioritizing requirements across different groups within gCBDS and serve as a liaison and communication partner
Work closely with researchers, IT staff, and external vendors to ensure applications meet the evolving needs of the department as well as to align vision, features, and roadmap
Creating guidelines and best practices for in-house application development and being accountable for compliance and internal uptake
Identify opportunities to innovate and deliver business value and addressing customer needs
Frequent presentations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders across the organization
Requirements
MSc/Ph.D. degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field with 5+ years of experience in maintaining, deploying, and structuring tools and applications in a corporate setting
Strong technical background in software development and maintenance, familiarity with state-of-the-art CI/CD, containerization, and automation frameworks
Profound knowledge of stakeholder management approaches
Proven experience in product management, demonstrating strong customer focus and business judgment
Prior experience in the drug discovery industry/biotech or computational biology is a plus
Strong communication skills and excellent command of English (verbally and written)

The minimum gross annual salary according to the collective bargaining agreement for this position is EUR 64.023,54 (full time). For the actual salary the industry benchmark as well as your qualifications and experiences are taken into consideration.
