Position: Material Handler

Reports To: Department Supervisor

Job Class: Hourly

Location: Victorville, CA

The Material Handler is responsible for effectively operating powered industrial equipment for the purpose of loading, unloading, moving, locating, relocating, and stacking product.

Job Duties

  • Utilizes RF units, scanners, CRTs or hard copy reports to record in an accurate manner the movement of merchandise from the time it is received until it is selected and shipped.

  • Operates various manual and/or powered material handling equipment to transport pallets of merchandise within the distribution center as directed.

  • Moves empty pallets and storage racks as necessary to a specified location and stacks them in a neat and orderly manner.

  • Confirms quantities of merchandise and other inventory to verify the accuracy of the order to be processed.

  • Verifies distribution labels to ensure coordination with the order to be processed.

  • Exhibits reasonable care and operation of material handling equipment.

  • Handles and stacks merchandise in such a way to prevent damage to merchandise and/or prevent unsafe and unstable loads.

  • Performs general housekeeping duties within the department and assigned designated areas to ensure a safe and appropriate working environment.

  • Drives a forklift or other PIT equipment during loading and unloading of trailers and or containers.

  • Ability to read shipping orders and packing list information provided by vendor.

  • Utilize SAP to make movements of finished goods/components for inventory.

  • Have all packing materials ready and available prior to pre-packing and staging of an order.

  • Manually load containers/LTL shipments with a pallet jack or by hand as needed.

  • Participate in continuous improvement and safety initiatives as directed.

  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Strong organizations skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize a busy workload.

  • Ability to follow and comply with all building safety rules and policies.

  • Ability to read shipping orders and packing list information provided by vendor.

  • Must be self-motivated and team oriented.

  • Ability to wrap product and label product quickly.

  • Able to keep work area clean and organized.

  • Adaptable to work in changing workloads.

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum 4 - 6 years of related experience.

  • Requires warehouse and materials handling equipment experience.

  • Demonstrates good teamwork and collaboration skills.

  • Demonstrates ability to lead, train and motivate a team.

  • Excellent written and verbal (English) communication and interpersonal skills required.

  • Some familiarity with inventory management and personal computers is helpful.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in PKMS and SAP as it related to job responsibilities. Experience with all MS Office products and ability to use Excel.

  • Highly organized and able to work in a fast-paced environment

The California base pay for this position is from $39,520 to $40,560. Salary will be based on prior experience related to the skills required for this position.
