Report to: Outbound Logistics & Warehouse Manager

Context/Scope :

SBL’s operational activities include Manufacturing (Brewing & Packaging) of Beers, RTDs and Soft drinks, Marketing, Sales and Distribution (both SBL products and Diageo Spirits).

The Operations department’s role is critical to ensure consistent supply of our products at the right time, volume, quality, and cost whilst keeping everybody on site safe.

Purpose of the role :

The role of the Forklift Operator/Handyman is to move and stack pallet loads of products, empties, materials to the required position depending on the mature of the activities being carried out ensuring that the processes are in line with the company policies/procedures and supporting all compliance initiatives relating to the job/area of responsibility. As a Handyman, the incumbent is to manually sort and handle stock items as instructed by the respective Warehouse Supervisor and play a key role in maintaining GMP in the areas under the control of his respective Store Supervisor.

Top Accountabilities :

  • Move products to the appropriate loading bay and customer according to the dispatch note handed over by the Supervisor - FGS.

  • Operate fork-lift to efficiently load, unload, transport, lift and stack pallets with goods in the warehouses, conveyors or stations as required to the satisfaction of the company and its customers.

  • Stack products and empties in the respective stacking area/rows upon the instructions of the Warehouse Supervisors.

  • Break pallet load and organize customer’s orders as per dispatch notes and ensure that pallets and product are handled with great care to prevent damage and breakage.

  • Execute jobs requiring your skills within SBL and participate in any other work as may be required.

Qualification :

  • Post-Secondary Certificate, plus relevant work experience and forklift license/certification.

  • Knowledge of our SKU, bottle types and pallets configurations

  • Experience in loading and offloading as per relevant documentations.

  • Effective communications skills

  • Problem solving skills.

  • Self-motivated and achievement oriented

  • Structured and organized approach to work

  • Ability to manage time and prioritize.

  • Lack of understanding of the links across all functions.

  • Unapproachable and unable to build relationship and interact with others.

  • Lack of confidence in dealing with people at all levels.
