WSP USA Marine Structural Engineer-in-Training in Victoria, British Columbia

The Opportunity:

WSP is seeking a Civil/Structural Engineer-in-training with a passion for technical project delivery to join our Canadian Ports, Marine and Coastal Practice at our Victoria (preferred) or Vancouver office. A role that combines technical delivery with understanding and meeting client expectations. The successful candidate will be responsible for executing structural projects in a port and marine environment, and being a key member of the Canadian ports and marine team.

What you can expect to do here:

  • You will carry out site visits, site observation work for construction and inspections of structures.

  • You will coordinate reviews of contractor submittals and requests for information to support site construction projects.

  • You will read and interpret structural, architectural and civil drawings, specifications, and design requirements related to structural applications.

  • You will review safe work practices and safety procedures, including planning prior to field work.

  • You will create designs, calculations, sketches, schematic drawings, and final working drawings.

  • You will work closely with geotechnical engineers and review geotechnical subsurface investigation reports and use information to prepare structural design recommendations.

  • You will perform work in accordance with agreed budget and schedule and client requirements.

  • You will ensure all project documentation and deliverables are reviewed in accordance with corporate quality management procedures and provincial/local professional requirements.

What you'll bring to WSP:

  • Registered as a EIT with EGBC;

  • Eligible to obtain Security Clearance (Reliability status)

  • Preference given for structural engineering work experience, in both design and site environments;

  • Detailed knowledge of structural steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, and timber design.

  • Detailed experience with structural analysis software;

  • Passion and interest in Ports and Marine projects.

  • Desire to provide excellent practical client service and a passion for technical excellence.

  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills;

  • A strong commitment to safety and sustainability initiatives.

Salary range (in British Columbia): $67,800 - $93,200

The final salary awarded for this role may vary from the above range based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs. The salary range provided in this job posting may be subject to change for business purposes
