Field Service Engineer GIRMS-IOMS

Field Service Engineer (f/m/d) GIRMS-IOMS group (Gas Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometry - Inorganic Mass Spectrometry)
Location/Division Specific Information:
Location (Service Territory): Italy - Emilia-Romagna;Friuli-Venezia Giulia;Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol; or Veneto .
Division: Analytical Instruments Group (AIG) / Instrument and Enterprise Services (EIS)
Position Summary:
The Field Service Engineer (FSE) will conduct instrument repairs, upgrades, installation, and preventative maintenance at customer sites. The FSE will primarily handle an assigned Service Territory, but will provide service in other territories as needed.
A day in the Life:
· Offer specific product support on GIRMS-IOMS Instruments (80%).
· Perform Field Service-related duties in line with internal rules, customer regulations and health and safety guidelines, providing on-site services exceeding customer expectations and ensuring that customers become promoters of our business through positive feedback
· Deliver the highest professional relationship with our customer base raising technical issues to quickly resolve critical tasks in the fastest way possible. Follow TFS ethical business conduct guidelines.
· Provide on-site training relative to system service, maintenance, and basic operation.
· Diagnose problems over the phone and/or using remote software. Follow up to ensure problems were resolved to the customer’s happiness.
· Optimize own work schedule by coordinating with all the required partners for service planning (Dispatch function, Team Leader, Manager); actively supervises the status of contract, warranty and time and material install customers. Track and schedule on-site PM visit(s).
· Enable the customer's success through their partnership with Thermo Fisher Scientific. Utilise web-based, sales lead logging tools to ensure customers are offered those products and services they require enabling them to meet their objectives.
· Ensure that all documentation related to in-house and on-site support activity is completed accurately and submitted on a timely basis. This includes maintenance of electronic files, Field Service Reports, Service Work Orders and Quotes and Expenses Reports
· Responsible for company assets including parts inventory, laptop computer, mobile phone, test equipment (ensuring validation calibration), tools, software, company car etc.
Keys to Success, Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
· Background in Electronics/Chemistry/Physics/Engineering or related subjects
· Minimum 1-3 years of experience servicing analytical equipment. Equivalent applications specialist or end user experience will also be considered as valuable experience.
· Some knowledge of Gas Chromatography, Gas Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometry, and Mass Spectrometry an advantage, but not crucial.
· Strong problem-solving skills.
· The ability to balance multiple tasks with different priorities. Organization, planning and time management skills.
· Ability to think critically, learn new technologies, clearly document requirements, work in team, and deliver results.
· Proficient levels of PC literacy.
· Willing and able to travel 5 days a week within territory, Monday to Friday with occasional nights away from home.
· Must have valid Driving Licence and professional working proficiency in Italian and English, with ability to work across all levels, functions, and regions.
