Operations Training provides approximately 350 individual courses focusing on: safety, security, induction of new hires and promotees, conventional and new equipment and skill refreshers. Programs are developed in partnership with NYC Transit’s departmental management and where appropriate, other MTA agencies, in response to mandates by Federal, State and City entities.

Compensation
Salary Range: $88,539 - $131,381 (Grade D) Responsibilities
The Director position will be responsible for the daily management of critical training programs to support Stations and Signals divisions.
The Director will direct New Technology training initiatives including courses for Communication Based Train Control (CBTC) for Signals and is accountable of the design, delivery, development and testing and evaluation of courses for Signal titles.
This role will have responsibility for managing the daily operations of Signals Training. Including reviewing and commenting on contractor training specifications and deliverables in line with contract specifications. The director will supervise staff scheduling, attendance, and disciplinary actions. The incumbent represents the department as the subject matter expert in relation to various working committees and meeting with the operating division to discuss operational trends and update training programs. The director participates on hiring committees and with the Senior Director on efficiencies and tools to support the needs of the Signals division.
Education and Experience
A Baccalaureate degree in in transportation management, computer science, or a related field and eight (8) years of full-time related experience, of which five (5) years must have been in a managerial, administrative, or supervisory capacity.

Knowledge of Transportation and Operations rules, policies, and procedures.
Knowledge of Signals, Power and Stations Operations
Strong management, problem solving, customer service, and administrative skills.
Adaptable and flexible with the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment to foster new initiatives.
Excellent written, verbal, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
Proficient in ELM, Excel, Access, Microsoft Office computer programs.
Selection Method:
Based on evaluation of education, skills, experience, and interview.
All appointments, with the exception of the Department of Subways employees on MABSTOA payroll, will be made on the NYCT payroll.
Other Information:
As an employee of MTA-NYC Transit, you may be required to complete an annual financial disclosure statement with the State of New York, if your position earns more than $105,472 (this figure is subject to change) per year or if the position is designated as a policy maker.
