Job Description

This position will serve as the specialist overseeing the Native Boarding School Investigation (NBSI). They will act as the lead and point person for this investigation. They will serve as the liaison between the special agents (SA) assigned and the Assistant Attorney General (AAG) assigned to investigate the atrocities committed in the boarding schools. They will be responsible for reviewing documents and interviewing survivors in order to get a full accounting of what happened in the Native Boarding Schools. They will be responsible for writing the final report to be made available to the public. This position is responsible for presenting oral and written reports defining progress and problems to the Attorney General and her staff. The position will track and collect data and reports submitted by SA’s in order to keep the investigation progressing. This position will serve as the person of contact for the steering committee to help ensure this investigation is being completed in a victim centered manner. This position will identify resources and support available for survivors who will be interviewed as part of this investigation. Additionally, this position will work with the federally recognized tribes and Indian Country communities for input and information to help this investigation. This position will be required to maintain cultural honor and understanding for native tribes and culture in order to best serve the community. This position will report to the Division Chief and will work cooperatively with other Department of Attorney General (DAG) employees.

Required Education and Experience

Education

Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major.

Experience

Four years of professional experience, including two years equivalent to the experienced (P11) level or one year equivalent to the advanced (12) level.

Special Requirements, Licenses, and Certifications

Equivalent combinations of nonprofessional experience, identified by the appointing authority and approved by Civil Service that are represented by subclass codes, will be accepted for classified, professional experience equivalent to the P11-level and above. The nonprofessional experience must be related to departmental programs and services that provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Certain positions may be assigned subclass codes and individuals appointed must possess the required specialized experience.

Vacation and Sick Leave:Eligible full-time employees receive between15 and 35 personal daysand13 sick daysper year that may be rolled over to the following year if not used. Eligible employees also receive an additional day each year for community service or school functions.

Paid Parental Leave:Eligible employees can take12 weeks of paid leaveimmediately after a birth or adoption to allow needed time together at home with a new child.

Paid Holidays:Eligible employees receive 13 or 14 paid holidays each year including New Year’s Eve and Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents’ Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, the Fourth of July, Labor Day, Election Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving Friday, Christmas Eve and Day.
