Empire State University is seeking an Assistant/Associate Professor of Public Health in our School of Human Services. The successful candidate will have real-world practical experience in the field of public health and will teach, develop curriculum, and mentor students primarily in the Bachelor of Science in Public Health program. Central to the faculty role is helping students from diverse cultural backgrounds complete degrees that meet their personal and professional goals.
A highly distributed organization, SUNY Empire makes extensive use of technological applications for communication, teaching and learning, and administrative purposes. Working in cooperation with local and statewide faculty and staff, the successful candidate will provide high-quality educational services to students, engage in an active scholarly agenda, participate in university governance, and enhance the university's reputation within the community.
Responsibilities:
Developing and teaching online courses in Public Health.
Mentoring students as they develop degree programs.
Participating in curriculum development and academic assessment in the Department of Health and Human Services.
Participating in university service, including public health program accreditation.
Developing and maintaining an active research agenda.
Job Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
An earned doctorate from a regionally accredited U.S. university or comparable non-U.S. university.
College or university level teaching experience.
Experience with supporting diverse populations.
Ability to work in a dispersed faculty environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with teaching and mentoring in online learning environments.
Experience with academic program development.
Relevant industry and/or field experience.
Bilingual and biliterate in Spanish and English.
Master of Public Health (MPH), Master of Science in Public Health (MSPH) or Master of Health Science (MHS) degree.
Special Information:
Occasional travel will be required to fulfill university-wide commitments.
Office hours will vary to accommodate student needs.
Some evening and/or weekend engagement with students is required.
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis.
