Empire State University is seeking an Assistant/Associate Professor of Finance in our School for Graduate Studies. The successful candidate will work with students in the M.S. in Finance program and the area of expertise for this position is open to applicants whose academic background and research intersect quantitative methods in finance, financial risk management, and financial management including international finance. Responsibilities include teaching and advising in the Division of Business, Management and Leadership, developing and teaching online finance courses, supervising capstone projects, and engaging in research and service. The successful candidate may also teach and engage in course development in other graduate and undergraduate programs as determined by need and availability.

The School for Graduate Studies serves over 1,000 students per year in several degree and certificate programs offered in online and blended formats. Our faculty are committed to meeting the needs of adult learners and are dedicated to mentoring, motivating, and supporting our graduate students through consistent advisement, engaging instruction, and continuous program improvement. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging across the faculty role. We are particularly interested in applicants who can deliver high-quality teaching using evidence-based practices to effectively engage graduate students from a range of backgrounds and experiences.

Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

  • An earned doctorate from a regionally accredited U.S. university or comparable non-U.S. university in finance or related field.

  • College or university level teaching experience.

  • Experience with supporting diverse populations.

  • Ability to work in a dispersed faculty environment.

  • Professional finance certification, such as CFA, FRM, and/or CFP.

  • Real-world/industry work experience in finance.

  • Ability to use technology effectively in teaching and learning, such as the Eikon trading platform, Bloomberg terminal, and/or AI applications in finance.

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with teaching and mentoring in online learning environments.

  • Experience with academic program development.

  • Relevant industry and/or field experience.

  • Bilingual and biliterate in Spanish and English.

  • Doctorate from an AACSB accredited institution.

Special Information:

  • Occasional travel will be required to fulfill university-wide commitments.

  • Office hours will vary to accommodate student needs.

  • Some evening and/or weekend engagement with students is required.

  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis.

Rank/Salary: Tenure-track, assistant/associate professor, appointment and salary to commensurate with experience and qualifications.
