Empire State University is seeking an Assistant/Associate Professor of Applied Statistics in our School of Science, Math, and Technology. The successful candidate will develop and teach online courses, and serve learners across New York State, nationally, and worldwide. Responsibilities include teaching and mentoring students from diverse backgrounds and disciplines and guiding mentees as they pursue individualized degree programs. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion across the faculty role.

The Assistant/Associate Professor of Applied Statistics will collaborate with Mathematics and Computer Science & Technology colleagues to develop and grow B.S. programs in Data Science, Applied Statistics, Actuarial Science and Mathematics, plus design curricular pathways that link SUNY Empire's undergraduate mathematics and graduate programs such as the M.S. in Applied Analytics. Engagement in an active research agenda and ongoing service to the university are expected. SUNY Empire supports faculty pursuing scholarly work and engaging in professional development activities that enhance their teaching and research skills.

Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

  • An earned doctorate from a regionally accredited U.S. university or comparable non-U.S. university.

  • College or university level teaching experience.

  • Experience with supporting diverse populations.

  • Ability to work in a dispersed faculty environment.

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with teaching and mentoring in online learning environments.

  • Experience with academic program development.

  • Relevant industry and/or field experience.

  • Bilingual and biliterate in Spanish and English.

Special Information:

  • Occasional travel will be required to fulfill university-wide commitments.

  • Office hours will vary to accommodate student needs.

  • Some evening and/or weekend engagement with students is required.

  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis.
