FABRICATION PRODUCTS INC Welder/Fitter in VANCOUVER, Washington
Prominent Structural Steel Manufacture has an immediate opening for a Welder/Fitter. As a Welder/Fitter you will lay out, position, align and fit together fabricated parts of structural metal-according to blueprint and layout specifications. Must be certified or able to pass 3G FCAW weld test to AWS standards. Requirements: • Minimum of 3-6 years on the job experience in a structural shop as a Journeyman Fitter/Welder. • Knowledgeable in type sizes and grades of materials, ASTM A6 plate and shape "Standard Mill Practice". • Able to perform with minimal supervision. • Able to read and understand weld symbols. • Knowledgeable of AISC and AWS standards and workmanship. • Able to read complicated shop drawings, shop detailed sketches and cut lists. • Proficient at shop math and applicable geometry. • Knowledgeable regarding angles, slopes, bevels, diameters and radiuses. • Knowledgeable of AISC "Welded Joint Standard Symbols" as defined AISC 9th Edition. • Familiar with craftsmanship criteria set forth in AWS D1.1-96. Essential Job Functions: • Plans sequence of operations, applying knowledge of, effects of heat, and allowances for weld shrinkage, machining, and thickness of metal. • Set up jigs and fixtures. • Locates and marks lines and reference points onto floor or structural shape and transposes them to various points of the work piece, using tapes, snap lines, plumb bob, squares and levels. • Moves parts into position manually or by hoist or crane. • Aligns parts using jacks, turnbuckles, port-a-power, wedges, drift pins, pry bars and hammer. • Straighten distorted parts using sledgehammer, hand torch, or straightening press. • Fit parts by means of clamps, bolt straps, braces or bolt parts in positions for welding. • Uses transit to level horses, fixtures or align attachments. •• Weld fit up items when required • Able to weld a 5/16 horizontal fillet welds with wire (FCAW). • Knowledgeable in crane operations and rigging of structural steel and operation of most plant equipment. • Must be able to lift 60-90 lbs 3 feet Day Shift.
