FABRICATION PRODUCTS INC Fabrication shop Foreman in VANCOUVER, Washington

POSITION SUMMARY: Fabrication Products has an immediate opening for an experienced Steel shop foreman to join our team. We're looking for a hardworking individual who enjoys meeting challenges and surpassing customer expectations. The ideal candidate will have a background in structural steel fabrication and is experienced with supervising 25-30 employees.

• Perform any other tasks assigned to support and improve the overall team operations.

• Able to perform with minimal supervision.

• Have strong leadership and communication skills (these are essential).

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE DESIRED:

• Minimum of 4-6 years on the job experience in a structural shop as a Foreman/Supervisor.

• Knowledgeable in type sizes and grades of materials, ASTM plate and shape "Standard Mill Practice".

• Be highly proficient at reading and working from blueprints.

• Knowledgeable in crane operations and rigging of structural steel and operation of most plant equipment.

• Familiar with craftsmanship criteria set forth in AWS D1.1 and D1.5.

• Knowledgeable of AISC and AWS standards and workmanship.

• Able to read and interpret complicated shop drawings, shop detailed sketches and cut lists.

• Proficient at shop math and applicable geometry.

• Knowledgeable regarding angles, slopes, bevels, diameters and radiuses.

• Knowledgeable of AISC "Welded Joint Standard Symbols" as defined AISC 9th Edition.

• Knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials and supplies used in steel construction work.

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

• Directly oversee a group of fabricators and other crew members.

• Operate safety equipment and use safe work habits.

• Plan sequence of operations, applying knowledge of, effects of heat, and allowances for weld shrinkage, machining, and thickness of metal.

• Interact with management, employees and customers in a professional and positive manner.

• Accept and act on short-notice changes with a positive attitude.

• Maintain an orderly, clean and safe shop.

• Develop and set up fixtures.

• Familiar with transit to level horses, fixtures or align attachments.

• Examine fit up work assemblies for defects and measure work pieces to ensure conformance with specifications.

• Manipulate jobs to maintain delivery schedules.

• Must be able to lift, pull, push and/or carry up to 50lbs.
