Nuclear Fuel Services Shipping Coordinator in Vancouver, British Columbia

We are currently recruiting for a Shipping Coordinator for our facility in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

Location of Work: On-site: 4004 Wesbrook Mall, Vancouver. BC

JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for the safe, efficient operation of the Isotope Shipping Area by coordinating the daily functions within the area and ensuring scheduled deliveries of the Company’s products. Organize and maintain lay-out of shipping area to facilitate work flow providing adequate shielding for protection. Accept incoming radioactive shipments from production. Control and maintain operating inventory of all shipping supplies. Oversee the preparation and accuracy of shipping documents. Monitor shipments, trace lost or delayed shipments and report status to customers. Assist in maintaining and upgrading of the traffic system.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assemble and organize all required documentation for shipments.

  • Check and verify that shipping documents and labels are accurate (i.e. no discrepancies exist in pot, label and isotope quantity information).

  • Package product, perform Transportation Index measurements, ensure that each package conforms and meets IATA Regulations for transportation pf Dangerous Goods. Reject and return packages that do not conform to such regulations, to Production.

  • Deliver products and be responsible for safe operation of company vehicles and safe loading and unloading of vehicles for active shipments.

  • Track and trace shipments to ensure delivery schedules to customers are maintained. Advise customer of any deviations whilst enroute.

  • Select routes and plan deliveries on a daily basis to meet changing order requirements, with emphasis on achieving Out The Door (OTD) times for airlines.

  • Coordinate OTD times with Production and Quality Control to meet airline schedules and timetables.

  • Maintain TI records and container records. Track re-useable containers for return to company.

  • Handle and transfer product in F271 containers to shipping area and prepare for shipment in accordance to applicable regulations.

  • Approve all shipments; maintain routes on ROMIS; enter data and prepare documentation for all non-active shipments.

  • Operate the traffic system to generate shipping documentation on a backup basis.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Normally secondary school graduation plus three years’ experience preferably in distribution or dealing with the public of which one year of direct involvement in handling dangerous goods especially class 7.

  • Must have thorough knowledge of AECB, CTC, IAEA, IATA regulations. Especially regulations governing the shipments of Class 7 products, internationally.

  • Must have thorough knowledge of safety regulations for transportation of radioactive material.

  • Must possess valid driver's license.

  • Must have a good knowledge of Vancouver Operations, products and general procedures.

  • Must use initiative and judgement to ensure product is shipped from facility to meet customer needs.

  • Knowledge of computer software (i.e. Dbase 3) an advantage.

  • Must be able to organize, prioritize shipments on a daily basis especially handle rush shipments at short notice.

  • Capable of handling large volumes of work under pressure and meet cut-off times, deadlines effectively.

  • Capable of resolving discrepancies between orders, shipments and paperwork, prior to shipments leaving facility.
