Key job responsibilities

As a member of our team, you should have deep expertise in the design, processing, management, and business use of large datasets, across a variety of data platforms. You should have excellent functional, technical, and interpersonal skills to be able to work with customer teams to understand data requirements, and to build data pipelines to ingest, and enable analytics at scale. You should be an authority at crafting, implementing, and operating stable, scalable, low cost solutions to create necessary data flows. Above all you should be passionate about working with huge data sets and someone who loves to bring data streams together to inform business decisions and drive growth. You will also lead design reviews, guide and advise senior leadership on the ideal technical solutions to complex business problems. This position also requires working closely with other data teams within Amazon.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of data engineering experience

  • Experience with SQL

  • Experience in at least one modern scripting or programming language, such as Python, Java, Scala, or NodeJS

  • Experience mentoring team members on best practices

  • Experience building/operating highly available, distributed systems of data extraction, ingestion, and processing of large data sets

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with big data technologies such as: Hadoop, Hive, Spark, EMR

  • Experience building data products incrementally and integrating and managing data sets from multiple sources

  • Experience with MPP databases such as Amazon Redshift

The base salary for this position ranges from $135,700/year up to $226,500/year. Salary is based on a number of factors and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
