Junior Geophysicist
At WSP, we're continuing to grow and develop our expertise in Earth and Environment , operating as a trusted advisor and technical expert for engineering and environmental projects for our clients across multiple industries. Our team is growing, and as a result we're adding a Junior Geophysicist to our group. As part of the team in the BC Region , you'll be responsible for driving forward our ambitious plans to enhance our Earth and Environment service offering in the region through your work with a close-knit team of engineering specialists, professionals, and technical staff.

A day in the life:
You’ll conduct shallow ground geophysical surveys including Seismic Refraction, MASW, Electrical Resistivity Imaging, Magnetics, Ground Penetrating Radar, Electromagnetics and Microgravity methods on land, in boreholes and over water
You’ll process and interpret data using industry standard geophysical interpretation software
You’ll maintain and calibrate geophysical equipment
You’ll help write technical reports including data visualization
You’ll work with multi-disciplinary project teams
You’ll demonstrate a “Safety First” focus and act as a role model to other staff

A university degree in Geophysics, Earth Sciences, Geological Engineering or related discipline majoring in Geophysics
Post graduate qualification in geophysics is an asset, but not required
Ability to travel and complete field work (30-70%)
Ability to work outdoors, including in remote areas in Canada
Comfortable driving in remote areas and off-road settings as well as helicopter travel and operating off-road vehicles (i.e. UTV, ATV, ARGO, Snowmobile) – safety and competency training will be provided
Physical fitness, mechanical aptitude, experience with computers and electronics
Strong written and verbal communications skills
Expected Salary (British Columbia): $54 000 - $74 600
The final salary awarded for this role may vary from the above range based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
