As the Indigenous Consultation Assistant, you will be responsible for supporting, coordinating and participating in the implementation of the department’s Indigenous engagement and consultation activities. This includes providing administrative and coordination support for outreach, engagement and consultation activities and assisting with other related activities as required. The incumbent shares information with the Indigenous Relations Department as it pertains to corporate strategic initiatives relating to Indigenous rights, issues, interests and opportunities.
What you will do:
Participate in and coordinate activities toimplement the department’s engagement and consultation activities, including maintaining communication and contact with aboriginal groups followingestablished protocols.
Coordinateand liaise with the appropriate project teams and internal departments tofulfil information requests to support the development of appropriate consultation materials, ensuring that appropriate reviewtakes place.
Research and extractissues and resolutions from diverse sourcematerial to aid in aboriginalconsultation activities.
Compose drafts,proofread and format correspondence, presentations and spreadsheets. Assemble, prepare, collate and distribute asrequired.
Actas the point of contact for general information or inquiries from internal or externalstakeholders, using discretion and judgement on sensitive issues. Escalate issues to management fortimely resolution, as required.
Maintain all records related to engagement and consultation, includinginfrastructure-related tracking and for submission as part of regulatoryprocesses.
Prepare and coordinate submissions, correspondence, records, reports, trackingtables, payment requests, etc.
Compose,proofread and format correspondence, presentations and spreadsheets. Assemble, prepare, collate and distribute as required.
Coordinate team purchases using VFPA creditcard and reconcile statement, as needed.
Track offers of aboriginal participation andstudy funding, and complete requests for paymentas required. Follow-upon routine financialqueries.
What you bring:
You will have completion of an acceptable post-secondary certificate along with a minimum of 1.5years of administrative experience related to infrastructure projects orpermitting processes requiring indigenousconsultation.
You will have proficiency in Microsoft OfficeSuite, with experience using engagement and consultation tracking software.
You will be a self-motivated individual withexcellent interpersonal and communication skills, including tact, diplomacyand the abilityto liaise effectively and positively with both staff and outside contacts.
You will process a good understanding ofaboriginal culture and protocol and have excellent verbal and writtencommunication skills.
You will be a team player with a “customerservice” focus.
