Sodexo Clinical Nutrition Manager II - Healthcare in VAN NUYS, California

Sodexo is currently seeking a full timeClinical Nutrition Manager to join our food and nutrition healthcare team at Valley Presbyterian Hospital. This is a 350-bed full-service, non-profit community hospital, dedicated to the health and well-being of the diverse and challenged communities of the San Fernando Valley located in Van Nuys, California; a prominent neighborhood in the middle of the San Fernando Valley,a part of the city of Los Angeles in Southern California.

In this role,the selected candidate will direct the daily operations of the team that provides comprehensive nutrition care for patients and residents,including screening, assessment, intervention, menu planning, care and discharge planning to ensure patient nutrition needs are met.Be responsible for supervision of staff and providing medical nutrition therapy that includes nutrition assessment, nutrition education, drug nutrient interaction education and nutrition care planning.

Reporting to the General Manager, the successful candidate will:

  • Represent department at meetings and patient conferences;

  • inventory and procure all oral and enteral feedings, develop and maintain formulary;

  • be responsible to follow through on patient meal and snack issues;

  • schedule and supervise all clinical staff, conduct staff meetings, in-services, and complete timely competencies and evaluations;

  • maintain and update clinical nutrition policies and procedures;

  • assist the Director, Food & Nutritional Services in projects, planning department changes, updating the patient menu and the budget for the clinical nutrition area;

  • be responsible for HealthTouch patient menu and general changes;

  • participate in continuing education to meet own professional development goals, remain aware of recent research and literature findings;

  • coordinate the department performance improvement activities to continually improve patient care and outcomes.

  • Is a Registered Dietitian with at least 3 years of clinical and management experience, preferably in an acute care setting and/or prior leadership experience;

  • has a strong commitment to excellence in all aspects of patient care;

  • provides demonstrated leadership skills to manage and develop clinical staff;

  • is an outstanding team player with excellent communication and customer service skills;

  • works well with physicians, nursing, and ancillary staff and collaboratively as part of a team, as well as independently and be outcome focused;

  • will work closely with the management team to meet the needs of Sodexo as well as the client and be directly involved in continuous quality improvement.

Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement:

Master's degree with completion of required coursework and supervised practice as dictated by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND)

For those eligible for the registration exam prior to 1/1/24:

Bachelor's degree with completion of required coursework and supervised practice as dictated by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND)

Credentials Requirement:

Meets eligibility requirements for Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RD/RDN) by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) and will become registered within 120 days of hire. In some states and/or facilities the RD/RDN credentials is required at the time of hire

Certification/licensure as required by state(s) of practice. In some states and/or facilities state certification/licensure is required at the time of hire

Basic Management Experience: At least 13 months experience supervising and directing people and other resources to achieve specific end results within limited timeframes.

Basic Functional Experience: 3 years as experienced practitioner able to work unsupervised and provide professional supervision to developing practitioners
