Summary
This is an individual contributor position that performs all phases of production and is responsible for filling in for the shift lead person during their absence. This individual performs duties associated with the assigned shift, and assists the Shift Supervisor in ensuring employees have the tools and material they need to provide inspection and high quality Valmont products.
Essential Functions:
Ability to operate an overhead crane
Makes, through proper training, program changes to robotic welders and understands the nuances of an automated welding system.
Collaborate with department leadership to achieve continuous improvement and department goals
Assist with the training of others and complete appropriate paperwork
Provide feedback and input to Supervisor about team performance
Act as back up for the shift lead and area employees when needed
Maintain a productive working environment to manufacture high quality Valmont products in safe and efficient manner
The ability to operate at least 2 manufacturing equipment such as trap shear, profiler, sub welder, brake press and cut to length equipment, plus the ability to adjust and operate robotic welders.
Ability to wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the position
Ability to operate a forklift and overhead crane

Ability to understand and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form, and to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Ability to use considerable judgment to work independently towards team and department goals
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
The ability to communicate and interact with coworkers in a positive manner
Required Qualifications
Minimum of 3 years of welding or machine operation experience
Ability to learn all Midsize functions and at operate least 2 pieces of the equipment, plus the ability to adjust and operate robotic welders
The ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedural manuals and blue prints
The ability to use a tape measure
The ability to pass a forklift driver’s test
Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Outlook
Knowledge of and ability to use common shop mathematics, in feet, inches, degrees, and fractions, in reading complex prints, and standard specifications.
Highly Qualified
Associate's degree or higher preferred
Experience with the Midsize department or similar manufacturing machinery
Currently Welder C status or higher
Demonstrated experience in a Utility role at Valmont
Practical hands on experience in Lean Manufacturing
Must be a person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results
Previous robotic welding experience
