How you will contribute

An exciting opportunity to lead and oversee all corporate communications and government (and public) affairs activities (CGA) for the UK and Ireland.

You will be a business partner who manages across external advocacy, media, corporate communications and government relations, crisis and issues communications to promote and protect Mondelēz’s International reputation.

This strategic role will require you to think globally and collaborate with colleagues from around the world to share best practices.

What will you do?

You will be responsible for building and delivering Mondelez International’s Corporate Communications and Government & Public Affairs Strategy in the UK and Ireland but will also play a contributing role in a number of CGA forums across Europe.

This will include media relations and external communications, stakeholder and political engagement, and partner with leaders and senior colleagues across a range of issues.

Key responsibilities – Corporate Communications

  • Protect and enhance Mondelez International’s reputation in the UK and Ireland by creating and delivering corporate communications activity across owned and earned channels, including traditional and social media.

  • Act as a senior counsel on corporate and government affairs issues to Executive and Leadership Teams.

  • Drive a creative and proactive approach to our corporate communications activity that support our strategic objectives and ‘Snacking Made Right’ strategy.

  • Lead and develop the UK & I External Affairs team to ensure it is developed and adapting to the future needs of the business.

  • Proactive content generation across key business areas including brand, corporate strategy, health & well-being and sustainability.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with key national and business journalists.

  • Support press contact programmes for key spokespeople in order to maintain Mondelez International’s direct relationships with key journalists and publications.

  • Responsible for managing relationships with external agencies for Corporate Communications and Government Affairs. Work with our brand teams to provide strategic counsel and guidance on areas where brand and corporate intersect.

  • Manage UK and Ireland communications and Government Affairs budgets and spend

  • Lead the team in managing the press office function (some of out hours working).

  • Lead complex projects and change programmes, setting the strategy and deliverables, then working with the wider team to ensure these are implemented to the highest quality

  • Confident issues management and handling on a local and national scale; part of special situations (crisis) team.

Key Responsibilities – Government & Public Affairs

  • Responsible for building and delivering a proactive Government Affairs strategy, helping support routes to market and defend our licence to operate.

  • Maintain relationships with key Government departments, political advisors, Parliamentarians and other stakeholders to ensure they are aware of Mondelez International’s position, work and policy concerns. To also ensure they have a good understanding of our business, and the likely impact on it of any policy or legislative proposals

  • Work closely with the wider European Public Affairs team to ensure seamless engagement on major, cross-market industry issues.

  • Represent Mondelez International with key Trade Associations, Government and other external stakeholders (including NGOs).

More about this role

Reporting into the CGA Director UK&I, this role will lead a team of 4. You will have a proven track record in a large, complex, matrix organisation. A true business leader, with an outstanding network, you will be highly experienced in building and delivering Corporate Communications and Government and Public Affairs strategies and will be already be operating at Senior Manager or Head of level. Understanding of working in a regulated environment and HFSS would be preferable.
