NYS Commission for the Blind Per Diem Driver in Utica, New York
Job Description: NYS Commission for the Blind is seeking a reliable and flexible Per Diem Driver to assist with home visits in Oneida, Herkimer, and Madison counties. This is a part-time position with a maximum of 20 hours per week. Majority of visits will be in Oneida County. As a driver, you will be responsible for transporting a staff member to various locations for appointments, waiting during home visits, and ensuring safe travel throughout the assigned counties.
Key Responsibilities: Drive the assigned staff member to home visit locations within Oneida, Herkimer, and Madison counties. Wait for the staff member during home visits and be paid an hourly rate for wait time. Ensure the vehicle is clean and well-maintained. Occasionally drive to appointments in the evening, depending on the schedule. Flexible availability, with typical work hours from 8 AM to 5 PM, Monday and Tuesday. Occasional Wednesday availability may be required Maintain a professional and safe environment, respecting the privacy and comfort of all individuals involved. Requirements: Valid drivers license and clean driving record. Reliable and punctual. Comfortable with the presence of a guide dog, during travel and appointments. Ability to meet flexible scheduling needs, including occasional evening hours. Knowledge of the areas within Oneida, Herkimer, and Madison counties preferred. Ability to maintain a professional demeanor at all times. Compensation: $19 per hour, paid for both driving and wait time. Mileage reimbursement at $.67 per mile. Schedule: Part-time, up to 20 hours per week. Typical availability: 8 AM - 5 PM on Mondays and Tuesdays. Occasional Wednesday availability No typical driving needed on Thursdays and Fridays as staff works remotely.
