Job Summary: Generac Clean Energy Solutions is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Staff Electrical Engineer to help develop the next-generation of renewable energy products. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and executing automated reliability testing for electrical systems and components. You will contribute to the reliability assurance and performance optimization of Clean Energy systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and customer requirements.

The ideal candidate will work out of the Waukesha, WI office and report to Engineering Manager

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute large-scale long-term test setups and procedures for electrical systems, focusing on power conversion, high voltage, inverters, PV Optimizers, electronics and IoT devices.

  • Perform functional and performance testing of electrical components, subsystems, and complete systems.

  • Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical issues, working closely with the design and development teams to identify root causes and propose solutions.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define test requirements and specifications for new products or product enhancements.

  • Utilize Objected Oriented Programing for test automation, data analysis, and equipment control.

  • Develop cloud data platform for testing data and provide recommendations for improvement.

  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices related to power conversion, high voltage, inverters, and electronics.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering or related field.

  • 10+ years of experience in designing automation systems.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge and experience in power conversion systems, high voltage systems, inverters, electronics and IoT devices.

  • Experience with CAN communication protocol, ModBus, and MQTT protocol.

  • Hands-on experience with electrical testing equipment, instrumentation, and measurement techniques.

  • Familiarity with graphical data visualization for cloud based test data management.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex electrical systems.

  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and present test results and recommendations.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend, or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific conditions of this job include are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus.
