The Director, Development Engineering is responsible for developing both current and future Greenway capabilities. This role will provide strategic leadership to product development teams and establish and implement best practices and standards related to engineering processes through all software development life cycle phases. This role will work with executive and senior management and interdisciplinary teams to develop vision and strategy in order to drive planning, processes, technology, and people management activities while overseeing the analysis, design, programming, debugging, and modification of applications software. This role is a change agent for Greenway Health and the Development team.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Provides guidance and review on product design.
Ensures that functional engineering domain expertise is deployed and integrated efficiently and effectively to meet project requirements and deliverables across all locations.
Provides leadership, vision, and strategy to ensure that the development teams' daily operations align with the business's present and long-term goals.
Develops/enhances architectural design frameworks to ensure high-quality information systems are delivered expeditiously and aligned with business objectives.
Manages technically focused scrum teams potentially across multiple locations.
Management of product releases and driving changes related to business goals and KPIs.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or related field required.
Master’s Degree preferred.
At least ten (10) years of software development experience, including substantial and complex whole life cycle software development management experience.
Five (5)+ years of experience in supervising staff.
Five (5)+ in software product development or software product management.
Expertise in designing and implementing scalable data pipeline architectures using AWS is preferred
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
Strategic thinker and proven leader/team player with incredibly strong communication and collaboration skills
Ability to identify opportunities to continuously improve the SDLC process
Experience with Microservices, Infrastructure as code, and full testing Automation
Amazon Web Services (AWS), Lambda, S3, Step Functions, SQS, IAM, Cloudwatch, Elasticache, DocumentDB, Kafka, DynamoDB
Data Engineering, launching data initiatives that power analytics for clients within healthcare is preferred
Proven skill in understanding market and technology trends and customer needs and developing product strategy, and aligning product plans built directly from customer input
Must be proficient in delivering and selling that vision through all levels of management within the organization including ensuring understanding regulations in healthcare and delivery timelines of the regulatory programs.
Ability to determine clear prioritization and appropriate trade-offs regarding product roadmap candidates as well as resourcing and timing
Ability to lead, mentor, and develop a talented team of high-performing individuals in a fast-paced environment directly and successfully
Proficient in MS Office applications; Knowledge of SCRUM and Agile principles a plus
Work Environment/Physical Demands
While at work, this position is primarily a sedentary job and requires that the associate can work in an environment where they will consistently be seated for the majority of the workday
This role requires that one can sit and regularly type on a keyboard the majority of the workday
This position requires the ability to observe a computer screen for long periods of time to observe their own and others’ work, as well as in-coming and out-going communications via the computer and/or mobile devices
The role necessitates the ability to listen and speak clearly to customers and other associates
