IHR - Marketing & Communications

Job Summary

The position is responsible for the creation, management, and organization of web content for Illinois Human Resources (IHR), by serving as the accessibility expert for IHR, ensuring that all web content is accessible to all users. This position provides writing and editing support for IHR\'s website, playing a crucial role in enhancing user experience while ensuring compliance with accessibility standards.

Duties & Responsibilities

Web/Digital Content Creation & Management:

  • Create, manage, and organize web content for the Illinois Human Resources website. This includes developing engaging content, updating existing material, and ensuring that all content aligns with the department\'s goals and objectives.
  • Maintain all web and brand standards of both the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and Illinois Human Resources.
  • Alert content providers of outdated or incorrect information requiring archiving, deletion or updating, or if material is inappropriate or inconsistent with college mission, identity, image, or web standards, and monitor the site for timeliness, consistency, and navigational effectiveness.
  • Maintain protocol for submitting both new and revised content.
  • Serve as liaison between content providers and MarCom team in matters of web content.
  • Implement SEO best practices.
  • Conduct usability studies with MarCom.
  • Maintain all listservs and mailing lists for IHR.
  • Create, coordinate, and manage monthly bulletins/newsletters for areas within IHR.
  • Maintain the jobs.illinois.edu website.
  • Provide writing and editing support for the department\'s website. This includes proofreading content for clarity, grammar, and punctuation, and making necessary revisions to enhance readability.
  • Enhance the user experience on the website. This involves analyzing user feedback, monitoring website performance, and making necessary adjustments to improve user engagement and satisfaction.
  • Utilize Google Analytics to monitor and analyze website traffic and user behavior, providing insights to improve content effectiveness and user engagement. Use tools such as Google Analytics to track and report on key performance metrics, making data-driven decisions to enhance user experience and satisfaction.

Accessibility:

  • Guarantee that all web content is universally accessible, ensuring full usability for individuals with diverse abilities.
  • Uphold the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign accessibility policy and adhere to accepted web accessibility guidelines.
  • Ensure all video content is appropriately captioned and descriptive transcriptions are readily available.
  • Provide support to MarCom and content providers in the creation of accessible web documents.
  • Conduct research on current trends and best practices in web accessibility and standards.
  • Continuously monitor website accessibility using advanced web monitoring software and analytics to ensure compliance with accessibility standards.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive website content accessibility guidelines for IHR.
  • Actively participate in the Accessibility Liaison program and engage in continuous training to maintain expertise in this area for IHR.

MarCom Support:

  • Assist with quality assurance for all marketing and communications items from IHR.
  • Review social media content for accessibility.
  • Assist in creating accessible/fillable documents from areas within IHR for the website.
  • Monitor the ihr-marketing@illinois.edu email directing/answering quest ons related to the website.
  • Assist with events, projects, and other miscellaneous items that MarCom works with.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor\'s degree in marketing, business administration, communications, public relations, or a closely related field.
  • One (1) year (12 months) of professional work experience in marketing, public relations, communications, brand management, or a related professional area.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong interpersonal and project management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Attention to detail is a must.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and professionally interact with all staff levels.

Appointment Information

This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 5004 - Marketing Associate position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after February 16, 2025. The previously determined salary range for this position is \$50,000-\$60,000. Final salary offered will be determined by a thorough assessment of available market data, internal salary equity, candidate experience and qualifications, and budget constraints.
