Job Summary
Utilizing graphic design expertise, provide creative and technical support in the development and execution of visual communication materials, including print, digital, and web media, to support Facilities & Services\' (F&S) mission. Assist in the conceptualization, design, and production of graphics, multimedia, and marketing materials that promote F&S services, initiatives, and campus projects. Support the creation of content for newsletters, digital signage, web pages, and publications, ensuring all designs meet F&S\'s standards for clarity, impact, and stakeholder engagement.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Demonstrate fresh design solutions in print, digital, and web media to create targeted communications for Facilities & Services.
- Use the latest Adobe Creative Suite software, as well as MS Office software, to take projects from concept development to final execution, presenting visual plans and strategies to stakeholders throughout the process.
- Create multimedia, including photo galleries, slideshows, and digital content.
- Design graphics for print publications, online special projects, digital signage, specialty web ads, and others as needed.
- Assist with photography and videography needs for F&S.
- Implement creative marketing strategies for a broad range of audiences, including prospective students, current students, faculty, staff, alumni, the campus community, peer institutions, and the media.
- Collaborate directly with outside vendors, such as commercial printers, regarding format and print processes.
- Work with the CRC leadership team and lead Graphic Designer to affirm communication objectives are met and ensure brand consistency and high standards of creative execution on time and on budget, to a satisfied customer.
- Research trends in graphic design, creative methods, typography, web design, and social media, and keep up to date with the most efficient technologies and workflow techniques.
Minimum Qualifications
- Any one or any combination that equals thirty-six (36) months from
the categories below:
- credit for progressively more advanced college or art-school
course work that would lead to a major in graphic/visual arts
communication and/or design
- 60 semester hours equals 12 months
- 90 semester hours equals 24 months
- 120 semester hours or a Bachelor\'s Degree equals 36 months
- work experience and/or on-the-job training that provided knowledge of progressively more advanced, generally accepted principles, theories, practices, and methods used in graphic designs and their applications to visual communications problems that are/is comparable to the training provided in the programs such as graphic/visual arts communication and/or design
- credit for progressively more advanced college or art-school
course work that would lead to a major in graphic/visual arts
communication and/or design
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with graphic design principles, typography, color theory, and layout techniques.
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), as well as MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), for creating and editing design materials.
- Ability to create and edit simple multimedia content, including photo galleries, slideshows, and digital images for use in web and print formats.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment, especially with cross-functional teams such as communications, external relations, and vendors.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of graphic design terminology, equipment, and techniques, with a strong und rstanding of design principles.
- Knowledge of photography, drawing, and how color theory and visual design elements apply across different media.
- Proficiency in relevant design software, including Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and other design applications like Sketch.
- Experience in producing graphics for both digital media and print, with an understanding of print production processes and file preparation for commercial printing.
- Strong typography skills, with knowledge of best practices in typeface selection, legibility, and layout.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and color discrimination, ensuring high-quality, visually engaging designs.
- Ability to create visually aesthetic representations that align with accepted graphic design practices and F&S\'s brand standards.
- Strong attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in design execution and adherence to written and oral design specifications.
- Ability to take direction and feedback while offering creative solutions to design challenges, adapting designs to meet specific project needs.
Appointment Information
This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 1004 - Graphic Designer Assistant position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the search close date. The salary range for this position is \$16.67 per hour to \$22.05 per hour (approximately \$32,50
