Mondelez International operates a category led business model across the 3 core categories of Chocolate, Baked Snacks and Cream Cheese. The categories lead the development and implementation of strategies for the growth of the total business.

The Head of Category Planning is leading the development of all categories in Sweden. This person has four direct reports, two of which are responsible for the different categories, one who is responsible for shopper activation and one who is responsible for category and customer development. The number of indirect reports is 14 people, so in total the Head of Category Planning is leading a team of 18.

How you will contribute

In a multi category organisation, this team is the interface between marketing, sales force, demand planners and key account managers. The Category Planning team provides the Category context for selling and they influence and input into the Marketing plans. They will develop with Marketing a clear Category Strategy to be shared with Customers and shows our vision for the Category and how Mondelez plans to develop it further. The Category Planning team needs to have a clear understanding at all times of the retail landscape and dynamics and what and where the opportunities are for the Category with our Customers and needs to ensure that Customer feedback is incorporated into the thinking on a regular basis.

The Category Planning team understands the business metrics and financial drivers needed to unlock profitable growth for Mondelēz International and our customers and this team works with key account managers to develop and implement customer plans to deliver our annual target. It is important to ensure all channel, customer and shopper needs are considered in the annual plan development.

The Head of Category Planning is reporting to the Country Lead Sweden and sits in the Leadership team of the business.

Main Responsibilities

  • Develop robust annual commercial plans per category including innovations, portfolio, activations and promotions.

  • Deliver the annual commercial plan in total and per category

  • Develop & execute the trade investment strategy to deliver the sales KPI’s

  • Lead and coordinate the delivery of the forecast

  • Provide direction to the key account manager team to maximize revenue, share and profitable growth (ROI)

  • Shape the development and execution of net revenue realization through price strategies and promotional mechanics.

  • Work with demand planners to ensure robust forecasts are built enabling stock deployment to deliver business and customer priorities including risk stock management

  • Provide thought leadership around tactical and strategic category initiatives

  • Influence and deliver a clear Category Strategy by understanding the market dynamics and consumer & shopper insights, ensuring that the sales function is armed with compelling commercial propositions.

  • Lead the development of trade marketing and perfect store
