DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this role, you will be responsible for case activities under the supervision of a Caseworker 2 or 3 or Casework Supervisor. Training and supervision are accomplished through observation of Caseworkers, detailed instructions, supervisory conferences, and the frequent review of work in progress. Social Casework Interns will assist with assessment activities, assist in the performance and provision of specific services such as placement and counseling, as well as assist in other specialized areas to include home and money management, housing, employment, and child rearing.

Our mission is to provide quality services for the immediate safety and protection of children, to keep children with their own families whenever possible, to provide temporary, substitute care for children when necessary, and to reunite children with their families as quickly as possible after placement. This position gives you the opportunity to become part of a dedicated team that provides case management, counseling, and related supportive services to abused and/or neglected children from birth up to age 18, and their families. Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time, unpaid internship, 2024/2025 academic year. Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Enrollment as a full time student in a  bachelor's degree program in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, or other related behavioral science, and completion of 75 credits, including completion of  15 credits in one of the listed majors. Other Requirements: PA residency requirementis currently waived for this title. You must be able to perform essential job functions. Legal Requirements: You must pass a background investigation. This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law. Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
