JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Penn State's University Park WorkLink program is seeking interns for the Fall and Spring. WorkLink is housed in the College of Education, Department of Educational Psychology, Counseling and Special Education. WorkLink is a fully integrated, on-campus, non-residential 2-year certificate program. The WorkLink program provides the opportunity for individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (ID) to participate in postsecondary experiences and education alongside their peers. We are seeking full (up to 40 hours per week) or part-time (up to 20 hours per week) interns , depending on student availability and applicable requirements in students major (if applicable).

Under the guidance of WorkLink faculty, internships responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to: • Academic support in and outside of classes (i.e., working on readings and course assignments, supporting skill building in time management, and in-class supports) • Job development and job coaching for paid and volunteer work experiences • Providing program supports as needed (e.g. managing databases, communicating with other faculty, promotion of program, preparing and presenting WorkLink Seminar topics, etc.), • Providing organizational support to the program, for example, assisting with ally scheduling, and planning events for WL students and allies. • Other duties as assigned Required qualifications: • Junior or senior credit status in a degree-granting Penn State program, preference for Rehabilitation and Human Services, Special Education, Secondary Education, Disability Studies, or Human Development and Family Studies majors. • Availability Monday to Friday, during business hours (8-5pm), with occasional evening or weekend hours possible. • Ability to pass a Penn State background check and provide up to date clearances • Previous experience with students with disabilities, preference for individuals who have volunteered or served as a WorkLink ally in a previous semester.

Interns must be available during normal working hours (M-F 8-5) with occasional nights and weekends as needed. Candidates interested in receiving credit for their assistantship may do so with the approval of the assistantship coordinator/advisor for their major. This is a paid assistantship ($10/hr).
