JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Penn State University Park is seeking a dynamic, student-centered professional to serve as the next Assistant Director of Transition Programs within Student Orientation and Transition Programs (SOTP). SOTP is a partnership between Student Affairs and Undergraduate Education charged with the delivery of university- and campus-wide orientation and transition programs for undergraduate students. This position is located at the University Park campus.

TheAssistant Director for Transition Programs will have responsibilities to aid in the development, implementation, and logistical support for New Student Orientation (NSO) which welcomes over 9,000 new students to University Park each summer.This person serves as a member of the NSO Director Team which rotates responsibility for responding to and resolving student and family issues and concerns as they arise during NSO programming, facilitating the program, and giving presentations. Additionally, this person provides support and training to our undergraduate student staff comprised of paid and volunteer roles.

The Assistant Director for Transition Programs will provide leadership for the development and implementation of orientation and transition events that support change-of-campus students, including but not limited to Link UP, regional change-of-campus activities at campus locations, Change-of-Campus Welcome programs at the start of each semester, and extended transition programs to help students acclimate to University Park throughout the semester.

This position requires evening and weekend work, especially in the summer months.An opportunity for flexible work arrangements, including remote work once or twice per week, is a possibility.

Education and experience: This position minimally requires a Master's degree plus one year of professional experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A degree in higher education, student development, or related field is preferred.

The successful candidate will have strong knowledge of orientation and transition programs, student development theory, best practices in student leader development training, and event management. The successful candidate will demonstrate the following skills:

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is: $51,000.00 - $74,000.00
