JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: The Department of Plant Pathology and Environmental Microbiology is seeking a Research Technologist to assist on the investigation of the role of the spotted lanternfly (SLF) to serve as vector of grapevine diseases, and to refine the parameters of transmission. The individual will produce educational materials to CDFA, and to our cooperators in extension and research in California to help them to assist growers to employ early detection and monitoring tools (identification guides, survey and trapping methods, etc.). Furthermore, the incumbent will have a role in day-to-day laboratory management, as well as assisting the postdoc in the Rosa lab collecting and rearing SLF, perform RNAi experiments, and tending grapevines in the greenhouse facilities.

This is a limited term position funded for one year from date of hire.

Education and Experience: Minimum requirements include a bachelor's degree in biological sciences and the possession of a driver license. The successful candidate must possess excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills. Competitive candidates must have basic entomological, microbiological, and basic lab experience. Fieldwork and microscopy proficiency would be a plus.

This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is: $34,800.00 - $50,500.00
