JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Pennsylvania State University (https://psu.edu/) seeks an Insurance Program Manager to design and administer the commercial property/liability insurance and self-insurance programs of the University, in tandem with the Penn State Health System’s Insurance Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for the administration of complex commercial property/liability and management liability claims, in conjunction with the University’s Senior Claims Specialist. The Insurance Program Manager also assists the Penn State Health and University Risk Managers in risk identification, evaluation, and management activities; and assists in the implementation of system-wide incident and claim workflows, policies/procedures, and best practices.

Primary position duties of the Insurance Program Manager include working with the University’s Chief Risk Officer as well as insurance brokers and insurers to identify specific exposures and insurance coverage needs, underwriting requirements, and program design (including utilizing the University’s captive insurance company when appropriate). This position also works closely with University leadership to identify risks and potential insurance and non-insurance risk avoidance and transfer solutions. The Penn State Insurance Program Manager will present risk management and insurance coverage interpretation and advise University leadership as required; lead risk and insurance efforts during potential Penn State acquisitions; and review insurance requirements contained in contractual agreements entered into by Penn State. Duties also include coordination and management of claims investigation, reporting, and administration.

The successful candidate for this position will serve as a risk management and claims expert to health system and University leadership and other stakeholders and must demonstrate knowledge of broad concepts, policies and procedures related to risk management, insurance, claims coordination, and litigation. They must possess:

Minimally requires a Bachelor’s degree plus six years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior commercial insurance and/or commercial claims related experience is required. Insurance designation(s) such as CPCU, ARM, AIC, etc. are preferred.

This position offers a flexible work arrangement that combines remote and on-campus work. Questions related to flexible work should be directed to the hiring manager during the interview process.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$97,100.00 - $145,700.00
