JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: The College of Agricultural Sciences' Digital Education Team is seeking an Instructional Designer to work with an innovative team of instructional designers, multimedia specialists, and subject matter experts to develop online learning components-primarily online course content and educational videos-for Penn State Extension's education programs.

The instructional designer is responsible for working collaboratively to design, develop, evaluate, and revise short online courses, workforce trainings, and educational videos. This includes: determining learning outcomes; outlining and developing written materials; and designing multimedia. The instructional designer also inputs course materials to the learning management system (LMS), edits LMS settings, and troubleshoots LMS issues.

Candidates must have considerable instructional design experience, knowledge of online learning theory and pedagogical principles, strong written communication skills, and strong wordsmithing skills to enhance comprehension of written material. Experience with technical writing, visual design, and/or video design is preferred, particularly writing storyboards. Candidates must have solid experience with learning management systems, multimedia development processes, and accessibility and copyright requirements. They must have digital file organization skills, as well as interpersonal, communication, and time management abilities. They need to be able to work on multiple projects simultaneously and be able to finish projects in a deadline-driven environment. They need to be detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to collaborate closely with a diverse group of people including writers, designers, faculty, staff, and other professionals. The instructional designer will use the team's project management system, follow standard processes, and contribute to ongoing improvement and documentation of the team's procedures.

This position has the potential to work fully remotely.

Education and Experience: This position will be filled at the intermediate professional or advanced professional level, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Minimum requirements for the intermediate professional level include a master's degree or higher plus one or more years of related experience. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is: $51,000.00 - $81,500.00
