JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Department of Psychology (https://psych.la.psu.edu/) in the College of the Liberal Arts invites applications for a Health Services Assistant to perform staff assistant duties for the Psychological Clinic (https://psych.la.psu.edu/psychological-clinic/) (an outpatient psychiatric clinic and doctoral training program).

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Answer/screen telephone calls; send and receive faxes and emails

  • Schedule appointments

  • Take referrals and monitor wait lists

  • Greet clients/visitors, provide information and assistance to doctors and patients

  • Assist in maintaining office records; enter data in office’s electronic medical records system

  • Provide backup support as required

The Health Services Assistant will be expected to routinely work Monday through Thursday from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. ET and Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. ET to provide coverage during the Psychological Clinic’s open hours and have flexibility to cover other shifts when needed.

    After training, the Health Services Assistant will frequently use the following software, systems, and applications: Microsoft 365 (SharePoint, Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, OneDrive), Box (cloud storage), DrCloudEHR (electronic health records platform), as well as Workday/WorkLion (Penn State’s central resource for HR services, payroll, attendance, etc.).

    Education and Experience: This position will be filled at the level of Support, which requires a minimum of a High School Diploma/GED or Vocational Training/Degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$34,800.00 - $50,500.00
