JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

University Health Services (a division of Student Affairs) is seeking an Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Manager. This position will manage and oversee one of the nation's longest-standing collegiate EMS agencies. We are seeking a dynamic leader who embraces the opportunity to elevate EMS work in a higher education setting. In addition to overseeing the 24/7 Ambulance service, this position will develop partnerships in the community to coordinate EMS coverage for special events on the UP Campus. This position will participate in strategic emergency management planning initiatives and develop a culture that promotes student development while providing essential services that enhance the safety of our community.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the operations of the 24/7 Ambulance service and EMS coverage of UP Campus special events

  • Direct and oversee the supervision of EMS staff (2 EMS Supervisors, 3 Full-time Teamster EMTs, Part-time student and non-student EMTs)

  • Manage the EMS budget, inventory, scheduling, billing, and other unit-specific administrative functions

  • Work closely with UHS Business and Finance staff and Ambulance billing vendor to maximize reimbursement for services

  • Provide leadership and serve as a role model and resource to staff and patients

  • May administer basic life support care to patients at the scene and during transport according to established state and local protocols

  • Participate in the development and oversight of emergency response procedures; ensure staff are trained and comply with EMS protocols

  • Ensure EMS operations are in accordance with state regulations and policies and maintain fleet of Ambulances

  • Evaluate current systems and develop and implement new systems to maximize efficiency and productivity

  • Maintain positive internal and external relations with appropriate partners; provide advice related to emergency and medical operations

Requirements include a Bachelors degree and 8+ years of relevant experience, including 3+ years of supervisory experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Additionally requires a Pennsylvania Emergency Medical Technician Certification.

This position requires the following clearances: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check.

This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver’s license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$61,800.00 - $89,600.00
