  • Position:

The Vice President, Unscripted Current Programming-True Crime & Documentaries will oversee all aspects of current production from greenlight to air focused on series for Oxygen and Peacock. They will supervise the handoff from development to pre-production through production and post-production.  The VP will provide creative guidance and feedback on creative vision for the project including, but not limited to, the show format, episode outlines, story selection, contributor access, graphics, music, and all creative elements for True Crime & Documentary Content. The VP will report into the SVP, Production & Development, Oxygen Programming & West Coast Development

 

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the main point of contact between the key internal departments and outside producers and production companies in managing day-to-day details of assigned productions. 

  • Drive creative innovation on all series and in partnership with marketing, digital, social and PR.

  • Work with producers and production companies to maintain adherence and accountability for aspects of editorial, budgetary, and production standards as well as contractual requirements for true crime programming.

  • Manage and communicate the flow of information, materials, dates, schedules, etc. and facilitate necessary approvals, materials, and information across various departments.

  • Problem-solve production challenges with producers, production companies, and internal stakeholders.

  • Manage on-camera talent where necessary on selected shows.

  • Attend shoots as needed in the studio and on location.

Basic Requirements:

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in unscripted programming for a streamer, broadcast network, cable network, or television production company. 

  • Demonstrated success in the True Crime Space, preferably premium quality special or series.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Passion for True Crime content.

  • Knowledge of True Crime essentials, including an understanding of legal guidelines for producing crime shows and the sensitivities of working with victim’s family and friends.

  • Knowledge of all aspects of contemporary TV production and post-production.

  • Experience with streamer budgets and linear network budgets.

  • Willingness to travel for shoots and work with production schedules beyond standard work weekdays.

  • Streamer/linear experience and production company experience is a bonus.

  • Outstanding editorial judgment and creative abilities, with emphasis on story development, series production, and strong post-production skills.

  • Strong relationships with premium quality Showrunners, Directors and Producers.

  • Comfortable communicating with on-camera talent.

  • Strong verbal and written communications skills and demonstrated leadership skills.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, innovative, and high-energy environment.

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.

Salary range: $220,000 - $290,000 (bonus and long-term incentive eligible)
