Collins Aerospace in Uniontown, Ohio is seeking a Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering Co-Op to support research and development at Technology and Innovation group of Ice Protection and Water Solutions business unit. Work includes design, build, testing, and documentation of prototype composite aircraft parts, engineered surfaces, and electrothermal ice protection components.

Immerse yourself in a full-time, Monday-Friday co-op session, that will run June-December 2025 (including the Fall semester; it is expected students will take a semester off from coursework to fully engage with this working mentorship opportunity.

What You Will Do: As a Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering Co-Op, you will assist throughout the entire lifecycle of aerospace components, from conceptual design through to certification and ongoing product support. Your expertise will be pivotal in crafting advanced solutions for:

• Water heaters and freeze protection systems

• High-performance water tanks and heated tubes

• Precision-engineered valves, faucets, and drain masts

• Pneumatic valves and de-icers for ice protection

• Elastomers and heated composites tailored for aerospace applications

What You Will Learn:

• Learn about applied research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and/or machines.

• Learn test models of alternate designs and processing methods to assess operating condition effects. Produce parts, designs, or sketches for machines, components, systems or work orders / purchase requests

• Gain knowledge in research, plans, designs and develops mechanical products and systems in areas including, but not limited to, mechanical, thermal, hydraulic, thermodynamic, or heat transfer for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy.

  Qualifications You Must Have:

• Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.

• U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract

  Qualifications We Prefer:

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related field

• Interest in the design and development of aerospace systems, particularly Potable Water and Ice Protection systems

• Interest in all phases of the product lifecycle, from initial concept to certification and beyond

• Experience preferred in CAD software, simulation tools, and composites

• Exceptional problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to innovation

  Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products. Must be a commutable distance to Uniontown, OH to work an onsite schedule. This position may be eligible for relocation.

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
