We are looking to hire a highly motivated, best-in-class Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) Battery Testing Technician to join our growing Operations Services team. The team responsibilities include maintaining critical equipment in support of providing best in class availability for our data center customers. The UPS Battery Testing Technician will work closely with both internal customers and external vendors while coordinating regional resources to facilitate smooth work execution. This critical role is responsible for the preventative maintenance and replacement of UPS batteries in our data centers.

Key job responsibilities

Preventive Maintenance:

-Apply preventative maintenance testing techniques in support of maintaining and replacing UPS batteries across our fleet of data centers.

-Coordinate and oversee regular inspections, cleaning, and testing and remediation of battery systems.

-Ensure adherence to manufacturer guidelines, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.

Vendor and Contractor Management:

-Establish and maintain effective relationships with battery manufacturers, vendors, and service providers.

Documentation and Reporting:

-Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation for battery systems, including technical manuals, drawings, and specifications.

-Prepare and present regular performance reports, to include battery performance and trends and recommendations to data center management.

Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance:

-Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations.

-Act as an ambassador for safety within the team and to promote safe working across the site.

Communication and Collaboration:

-Effectively communicate, collaborate, and coordinate with the Facility Manager, Chief Engineers, Vendors, and other stakeholders within the region.

-Provide cross functional support for on-site operations within the Services Department.

A day in the life

As a Battery tech you will perform daily operations and preventative maintenance of UPS battery equipment in data centers, ensuring optimal performance and adherence to safety protocols. Conduct root cause analysis, create reports, and develop standard operating procedures. Provide training and guidance to technicians within the team, communicate complex technical information effectively, and travel within the assigned region to designated sites. Grow and develop.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree or Technical (Military/ Trade School) Degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

2+ years of relevant work experience in support of electrical infrastructure of critical information and communication technology.

Preferred Qualifications

Understanding of electrical and battery testing best practices, processes and tools.

Work experience in a critical environment.

Data center operations experience.

Team lead supporting data center operations environment with a history of assigning work to more junior technicians. Ability to recognize safety concerns and maintain a safe work environment under NFPA 70e guidelines.

Organized self-starter with strong analytic abilities and proven problem solving skills.

Ability to maintain vendor relationships.
