We are looking for a Quality Assurance Engineer to join our Christchurch, Dorset team!

Curtiss-Wright are looking a Quality Assurance Engineer to join our growing group at our state-of-the-art facility by Bournemouth Airport. As a Quality Assurance Engineer, you will support in maintaining new supplier evaluation, new parts validation and approval for new projects and resolve problems from supplier parts returned by customer or manufacturing including root cause analysis and problem resolution.

Your Challenge:

  • Performs data pack and shipping document reviews / Source Inspections and may perform actual inspection when required.

  • Reviews inspection/test failure and rejection reports and ensures quality inspection team follows test plans and procedures on a consistent basis. Communicates to Engineering and Manufacturing teams of any unusual or concerning results discovered by the Quality Inspectors.

  • Works with Engineering, Manufacturing and Inspection in assessment and resolution. Identifies test/inspection improvements and works with Engineering and Manufacturing teams on acceptable quality levels / improvement implementation.

  • Assist in maintaining QMS and product process documentation as part of a continuous improvement and best practice process.

  • Completes system and process audits.

  • Experienced in the interpretation of engineering drawings, schematics and process plans and assists Quality Engineering, Quality Inspection and Manufacturing in the development of inspection plans.

  • Support in maintaining new supplier evaluation, new parts validation and approval for new projects and resolve problems from supplier parts returned by customer or manufacturing including root cause analysis and problem resolution.

  • Provide follow up to suppliers. Monitor/support suppliers’ product/process quality control system improvement by system/process/product audit, supplier training and project management etc.

  • Support the responsible person for site Security Control oversight for the business. Update of Security Procedures, related documents and structure in line with regulatory requirements.

Your Expertise:

  • 3-8+ years of experience of Quality Assurance

  • Quality Regulation – Must be familiar with ISO9001 and the working of this standard, should have AS9100D experience and may have some CAA / EASA Part 21G or Part 145 experience.

  • Quality Assurance – Should have knowledge and experience of working with and updating Quality Manuals, Quality Procedures and other Quality documents.

  • Quality Process Control – Should have some knowledge and experience of working with and updating a wide range of Quality documentation ie; check-sheets, guides, work instructions

  • Quality IT - Should have some knowledge and experience of working with Quality biased computer systems + microsoft office + SAP or other ERP operating systems.

  • Quality Project Work - Should have knowledge and experience of working on Quality Improvement activity and Continuous Improvement activity

  • Quality Metrics - Should have some knowledge and experience of developing, managing and presenting Quality metrics.

  • Supplier Quality Assurance – Should have knowledge and experience of working with suppliers (supplier score cards, supplier portals, supplier audits, problem solving).

  • Quality Auditing - Should have some knowledge and experience of internal audits (Quality and Process) and external (suppliers).

  • Quality Tools - Should have some knowledge and experience and be able to explain use of Quality tools including DFMEA, PFMEA, FAIRs, APQP, Quality Plans, 8D, 5W2w, etc.

  • Quality & New Product Introduction (NPI) - Should have some knowledge and experience of prototype, preproduction, production and mass production phases.
