Design Project Coordinator I: Provides highly skilled technical expertise and oversees multiple design and/or building construction projects. Reports to a licensed professional engineer or registered architect who has final approval authority for projects. Work requires contact with governmental agencies, consultants and construction firms. Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however, all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.Design Project Coordinator II: Provides highly skilled technical expertise and oversees multiple design and/or complex building construction projects. Reports to a licensed professional engineer or registered architect who has final approval authority for projects. Work requires contact with governmental agencies, consultants and construction firms. Employees at this level establish their own work plan and priorities to meet set objectives. Issues are rarely referred to the supervisor but are handled at the occurrence.Design Project Coordinator III: Provides highly skilled technical expertise and oversees multiple design and/or advanced building construction projects. Reports to a licensed professional engineer or registered architect who has final approval authority for projects. May lead the work of technical employees. Work requires contact with governmental agencies, consultants and construction firms. Employees at this level establish their own work plan and priorities to meet set objectives. Issues are rarely referred to the supervisor but are handled at the occurrence.Design Project Coordinator IV: Provides highly skilled technical expertise and oversees multiple design and/or advanced building construction projects. Reports to a licensed professional engineer or registered architect who has final approval authority for projects. Leads the work of technical employees and provides training. Work requires contact with governmental agencies, consultants and construction firms. Employees are virtually self supervising and assume accountability for their work.Essential Duties:Design Project Coordinator I:Assists in the review and oversight of plan packages submitted by consultantsCoordinates design work among TxDOT entities, consultants and contractors.Designs projects, making design calculations and sketches of plans, layouts and typical sections.May serve as a lead worker or project leaderReceives project assignments, determines work requirements to complete project plans and coordinates scheduling to accommodate projects already underway.Reviews and compiles complete plan packages for submission to the responsible engineer or architect for review and signature.The essential duties for the Design Project Coordinator II include all of the above and: Reviews and oversees plan packages submitted by consultantsServes as program coordinator responsible for coordination of advanced engineering/architectural projects from initiation to completion.The essential duties for the Design Project Coordinator III include all of the above and: Assists with research and analysis of incoming correspondence, reports and other written materialDevelops and prepares consultant work orders and agreements.Evaluates and analyzes complex contractor claims.May lead project or planning activities of professional and technical employeesPerforms data collection, evaluations, analyses, studies, inspections, forecasts, assessments, and/or plan development.The essential duties for the Design Project Coordinator IV include all of the above and: Assists in planning and coordinating office operations.Provides training for area of responsibility.Serves as lead worker and subject matter expertPerforms research and analysis of incoming correspondence, reports and other written material.
