Position Overview:

The Engineering Program Manager (EPM) is a critical technical and engineering role within Design West Technologies (DWT) Research unit. This position is responsible for managing complex design engineering projects and a team of professional engineers ensuring projects are designed within scope, developed in accordance with strict defense standards, and delivered on time. The EPM collaborates with design engineers, production and quality managers, and other key DWT stakeholders ensuring engineering design reviews and product launches are synchronized and executed.

Key Job Duties:

Program Planning:

  • Defining project scope, objectives, and deliverables in collaboration with DWT and U.S. Government stakeholders.
  • Developing and maintained detailed project schedules, roadmaps, and design plans.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Acting as a liaison between design engineering, production, quality, planning, and purchasing.
  • Facilitating communication and ensuring project alignment throughout DWT processes.

Resource Management:

  • Identifying resource needs for project completion and allocating design engineering personnel effectively.
  • Managing project budgets and ensuring cost efficiency throughout the life cycle of the project.

Risk Management:

  • Identifying project risks and developing mitigation strategies.
  • Monitoring project progress and addressing any deviations from cost and schedule.

Execution and Delivery:

  • Driving project execution to meeting contractual timelines and milestones.
  • Ensuring all technical requirements and quality standards are met.

Stakeholder Communication:

  • Providing regular updates on project status to DWT Research senior management.
  • Preparing reports, presentation, and other required documentation.

Process Improvement:

  • Identifying inefficiencies in design engineering workflows and implementing solutions.
  • Promoting best practices and continuous process improvement.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in project management, engineering or relevant field. Masters Degree preferred.
  • 5+ yrs in Engineering Program Management or a related field, 2+ yrs in a leadership/supervisory role
  • Deep understanding of engineering principles, tools, and processes.
  • Proficient in project management methodologies.
  • Strong ability to lead cross-functional teams and to clearly articulate project goals.
  • Skilled at navigating challenges and finding practical engineering solutions.
  • Able to management multiple aerospace and defense projects simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with project management tools including but not limited to Microsoft Project.
  • Deep expertise in build-to-print and build-to-specification projects.
  • Recent technical experience working with aerospace and defense engineering projects.
  • Certified as a Program Management Professional, Federal Acquisition Certification for Program Managers, Certified Scrum Master, and/or Master Project Manager.
  • Prior service in U.S. Armed Forces a plus.
