Actalent Quality Inspector in Tupelo, Mississippi

Job Title: Quality InspectorJob Description

Inspects machined parts, components, assemblies, and materials to ensure compliance with appropriate regulatory guidelines such as Military Standards, ASTM, AWS, ANSI, and ASME Code. Provides various electronic and hard copy reports of inspections and notifies appropriate parties including project engineers. Sets up and operates measuring and test equipment, including Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T). May operate Coordinate Measurement Machines (CMM) equipment or other portable metrology equipment to achieve part acceptance, including equipment setup and inspection techniques for final dimensional inspections or in-process manufacturing. May prepare, update, and maintain computer databases. Observes testing and provides the quality oversight necessary to verify compliance with requirements and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect machined parts, components, assemblies, and materials for compliance with regulatory guidelines.

  • Provide electronic and hard copy reports of inspections and notify appropriate parties.

  • Set up and operate measuring and test equipment, including Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).

  • Operate Coordinate Measurement Machines (CMM) and other portable metrology equipment.

  • Prepare, update, and maintain computer databases.

  • Observe testing and provide quality oversight to verify compliance with requirements and standards.

  • Interact with and provide responses to regulatory agencies and customers during audits and reviews.

  • Monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.

  • Coordinate the procurement of standard materials, services, and parts for inspections.

  • Observe all laws, regulations, and other applicable obligations.

  • Work in a safe manner according to established procedures and practices.

  • Perform other duties as assigned or required.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Quality Inspection.

  • Proficient with hand tools such as micrometers, calipers, height gages, plug and ring gages, profilometers, radius gages.

  • Proficient in reading and understanding engineering drawings and specifications.

  • Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).

  • Experience with optical comparators, Keyence vision or scanners, and Micro-Vu.

  • Experience with Coordinate Measuring Machines, portable ARMS, and/or Laser Tracker equipment (LEICA models or similar).

  • Strong communication skills to effectively interface with all levels of employees, including management.

  • Ability to interpret complex information and respond to a variety of complex issues.

  • Strong data entry skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.

  • Knowledge of coordinate metrology software such as PC-DMIS, Spatial Analyzer, Polyworks.

  • Experience with ISO 9001, AS 9100/9102, and Department of Defense (DOD) quality assurance program requirements in a manufacturing environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Associate's degree, trade school certificate, military training, or equivalent in quality inspections or certification by a professional group such as ASQ or AWS (preferred).

  • Three or more years of progressive experience in electrical, mechanical, electromechanical, or metrology inspection and calibration.

  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment.

  • Ability to work extended hours as required.

  • Ability to gain and maintain a DOD security clearance (preferred).

Work Environment

Onsite in Tupelo, MS. Work schedule is Monday to Thursday (4 10-hour days), with Friday typically off. Work involves the use of standard inspection tools and equipment, and adherence to safety protocols and procedures.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $50.00/hr.
