Job Summary
This position will provide the following services for TFS Station & Station Technical Services:
Support system-wide station training with a focus of training delivery in their respective region. Facilitate advanced station training courses outside of traditional Core Block Training. Develop, maintain, review & champion station policies & procedures. Technical support on major equipment failure restorations & investigations. Technical support for new station equipment evaluation.
The consultant should be well-versed in all station equipment and be recognized, outside of their local area, as an SME in at least one major station equipment category. The goal of the consultant will be to equally support both system-wide initiatives & regional duties. With an emphasis being placed on system-wide support, this position will report to the Station Policy & Procedure Team
Job Description
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Train & instruct station personnel in the performance of routine, emergency, & special tests on station equipment. Support & facilitate the station mentoring program in their respective region.
Develop, assist & deliver training content as part of the station electrician training program. Participate in curriculum review & updates as required.
Develop, maintain, review & champion station policies & procedures.
Analyze station test results & recommend, advise & assist other groups on corrective restoration measures to be taken. This can be at all station equipment levels; however, specifically on EHV equipment.
Investigate station equipment failures or malfunctions; produce reports to proper parties & recommend corrective action as required.
Engage with Station Equipment Standards & vendors on system-wide station equipment issues. Participate in specification reviews of new station equipment blankets in collaboration with established working groups.
Perform or direct modernization & rebuilding of station electrical equipment. This would include recommending & providing justification for station equipment rehab programs.
Be a thought-leader of emerging station technology, tools & test equipment.
Lead or co-lead a station equipment working group or committee.
Represent TFS in industrial forums, surveys & conferences as required.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education requirements are listed below:
Associate degree in electrical/mechanical/industrial maintenance technology or equivalent education and/or experience. Equivalent education & experience is limited to military training & work experience of technical/technician nature (such as aviation & nuclear instrumentation technician)
Work Experience requirement listed below:
Work experience should typically include a minimum of 8 years in TFS Station field-related activities; with at least 3 of those years as Equipment Specialist Senior in Station Technical Services. A good working knowledge of IPS & various types of test equipment are required.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
The physical demand level is Medium.
Be able to travel both regionally & system-wide for training & technical support with an expectation of travelling at least 40% of the time. Day vs overnight travel will vary depending on the regional reporting location.
Communication & collaboration skills, from front-line to manager level & across multiple departments, are essential for success in this position.
SALARY RANGE:
Equipment Spec Consultant-(Grade 8)- $96,110- $124-940.
