Corp. QA Statistical Analyst Intern

The Corp. QA Statistical Analyst Intern is responsible for participating in projects aimed at improving processes in the Food Safety/QA & Sanitation areas. This position is located in Tulsa, OK and serves as a key member of Bama's production support team that is charged with driving down customer complaints by addressing issues that impact product quality and responding to customer concerns. Reporting to the Quality Systems Director, this position utilizes six sigma tools and methodologies in collaboration with Bama's Operations and Quality teams to reduce variation and address root causes.
This position is accountable for delivering results in the following major areas:
Participate in quality improvement projects and initiatives in the QA & Sanitation areas to reduce defects and resolve quality issues.
Prepare and provide various reports directly to customers and internal process owners.
Serve as a liaison with the company, IS and users (DataNet).
Role Description and Job Accountabilities:
Lead cross functional teams and participate in quality improvement projects and initiatives in the QA & Sanitation areas to reduce defects and resolve quality issues.
Work collaboratively with business process owners to identify improvement opportunities.
Facilitate and oversee cross functional teams working on improvement initiatives.
Gather data to solve problems and to identify root causes.
Analyze data collected from inspections and testing procedures to identify quality issues determine the root causes.
Write and implement test, inspection and data gathering procedures to obtain the defect information needed for analysis, and report .
Develop and recommend improvements and/or corrective actions to facility QA teams based on the needs of the system and the findings of statistical data analysis.
Monitor the results to determine if changes significantly improve the process and reduce/eliminate defects.
In collaboration with facility production and QA teams, develop quality control procedures based on project findings and results.
Provides support to the commercialization process in the areas of process capabilities and control limits.
Assist process owners in the development of business cases and financial models.
Identify, analyze, and prioritize business process improvement initiatives based on their profit improvement capabilities.
Establish control plans and metrics for each project, enabling process owners in maintaining the gains.
Prepare and provide various reports directly to customers and internal process owners.
Monitor trends in data and integration of data and provide reports to customers.
Gathering data from plants and creating reports for direct distribution to customers.
Assure quality control activities meet customer specifications and quality standards.
Publish monthly quality scorecard and report.
Evaluate statistical methods and procedures used to obtain data to ensure validity, applicability, efficiency, and accuracy.
Evaluate sources of information to determine any limitations in terms of reliability or usability.
Plan data collection methods for specific projects and determine the types and sizes of sample groups to be used.
Administer SPC software, serving as a liaison with the company, IS and users (DataNet).
Support all software activities. Work with IS to support all facilities.
Position Qualifications:
Currently enrolled in a Data Analytics or Statistics program as a junior or senior.
Demonstrated knowledge and use of Statistics (SPC, DOE, ANOVA, Hypothesis Testing, etc.).
Knowledge of Six Sigma tools and methodology that has been acquired through formal training is required. Black Belt certification (ASQ and Smarter Solutions, Inc.) is preferred.
Proficient in Minitab and statistical software including use of multiple programs designed for reporting and training activities.
Proven strong technical abilities in problem-solving and quality improvement tools. Proficient in acquiring and analyzing data using appropriate standard quantitative methods to facilitate process analysis and improvements. This includes project management and planning tools, quality tools, preventive and corrective actions, and how to overcome barriers to quality improvements.
Verbal and written communication skills to present (http://www.ehow.com/about_6700810_job-description-statistical-analyst.html) highly technical information to laypeople in an easy to understand manner
Experience with basic quality system development, documentation and implementation.
