ASM Global Technical Services Manager in Tucson, Arizona

Summary Reports directly to Sr. Operations Manager. Responsible for the A/V and IT in the facilities, including complex house lighting support systems for all TCC events.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Confers with the Sr. Operations Manager, Director of Operations and Events team to determine requirements of forthcoming events.

  • Oversee the scheduling of the department.

  • Administers policies for Technical Services and use of building for stage shows, conventions, trade shows and other similar events.

  • Informs clients and sub-contractors on rigging points and methods for hanging sound, lighting, and audiovisual equipment

  • Supervises Stage Technician and Stagehands.

  • Assist with overseeing shows to ensure proper use of the arena, convention center and performing arts equipment and facilities.

  • Assists with shows and events in the facility.

  • Supervises the maintenance, repair and upkeep of sound equipment, stage, electrical, IT and systems.

  • Assists in the general supervision of the arena, convention center and amphitheater during events.

  • Set up, manage, Strike of Audio, Lighting, Visual and IT equipment.

  • Patch, Configure and deploy network cables and wire ethernet ports

  • Provide support for all IT related show/event services (e.g., VoIP telephones, wired/wireless show networks, installation of temporary ethernet and fiber cabling, and portable box office systems).

  • Ability to communicate stage requirements for various clients during events.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Manage subordinate supervisors in the operations department. Will carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with ASM's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding; disciplining employees in conjunction with Human Resources; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and Experience

  • Two years of college with major course work related to stage management or equivalent subjects.

  • Three years’ experience in all aspects of stage management, including general familiarity of stage lighting, mechanics and sound requirements; or an equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the capabilities to perform the described duties.

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to recognize the organization, regulations, and procedures involved in the operation of the Arena, Theater & Convention Center stage functions.

  • Principles and techniques of sound reinforcement, stage mechanics, and stage management.

  • Be able to obtain stage requirements for various clients during shows and events.

  • Know the electrical and sound companies in the area for the purpose of acquiring parts and equipment.

  • Supervises and trains personnel in the maintenance and operations of Arena, Theater & Convention Center equipment.

  • Work with prospective users of Arena, Theater & Convention Center facilities to plan their needs.

  • Design and execute detailed plans for system upgrading and use.

  • Maintain effective working relationships with other employees, the public and users of the facilities.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office.
