nVent Safety and Facilities Engineer in Tucson, Arizona

What you will experience in this role:

  • Implement an appropriate Environmental Social Governance (ESG) management system, including policies, process, procedures and guides and supervise efficiency, update components in line with changes in laws, regulations and enterprise directives

  • Handle after hours safety related incidents and report OSHA recordables in a timely manner

  • Complete RCCMs (Root Cause Counter Measure) and work multi-functionally to resolve root causes of systemic safety issues

  • Assures a clean and safe working environment for all employees, emphasizing prevention of potential problems and hazardous conditions, and supports nVent’s safety programs.

  • Develop and align environmental sustainability projects and strategize with nVent’s ESG steering committee, investor relations and senior leadership to ensure key material topics are accurately addressed

  • Interact directly with personnel at all levels and subject areas using sound planning skills and judgment

  • Lead EHS documents, vendor contract and permit administration.

  • Effectively work well with all key decision makers including end-users, developers, architects, building managers, consulting engineers, plumbing/mechanical contractors, electrical contractors, and distributors.

  • Facilitate required EHS training to ensure all regulatory and company obligations are met.

  • Plan facilities changes for plant, office, and production equipment layouts, working toward economy of operation, maximum use of facilities and equipment, and compliance with laws and regulations

  • Prepares bid sheets and contracts for construction and facilities acquisition.

  • Reviews and estimates design costs including equipment, installation, labor, materials, preparation and other related costs.

  • Develops criteria and performance specifications required to meet unique operating requirements and building and safety codes.

  • Communicate and document corrective action vital to avoid malfunctions, energy excess, shutdown or damage of any system. Advise supervisor of delays, problems and work assignment progress. Thorough knowledge of building systems (HVAC) and pneumatic controls, i.e. dead band, building steam systems, domestic and industrial water systems, compressed air systems, refrigeration, air conditioning compressors and controls, water systems and other related controls and systems.

  • Ability to understand and apply company and departmental policies and procedures.

  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot operational problems and make vital adjustments or repairs.

  • Knowledge of building codes, rules and regulations as well as procedures related to the position.

  • Plant layout optimization and floor plan optimization

  • Back-up support to Electrical Engineer inclusive of programming using LabView, performing electrical test equipment preventive maintenance, electrical test equipment troubleshooting and product support opportunities

  • Works on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors.

  • Builds productive internal/external working relationships.

  • Benchmarks & interacts with other plants to implement/standardize practices consistent with nVent standards.

You have:

  • 2 year associates degree in engineering or related fields, business, environmental/safety and/or related field or equivalent experience

  • Plant Engineer certification preferred

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Ideally 2+ years of multifaceted experience leading safety and/or environmental management systems.

  • OSHA requirements knowledge and experience

  • Previous experience working in a manufacturing setting preferred

  • Previous experience in or with working in large organizations with manufacturing facilities

  • Abilities to meet the physical and environmental demands including long periods of standing, and lifting up to 50 pounds
