Job Description

Our client in Tucson, AZ is hiring for a Database Administrator (DBA) with experience in SQL Server and/or Oracle. The DBA is currently engaged in a technical upgrade of CCNB and is also migrating databases from Solaris to Oracle Database Appliance (ODA). This transition involves moving from Unix to Linux systems. The goal is to decommission Solaris in favor of the engineered systems provided by ODAs. The DBA team consists of six onsite DBAs and two offshore DBAs who manage a network of 500 databases. Among these databases, 300 are Oracle and 200 are SQL Server. The largest database has a capacity of 100 terabytes, while the second largest is 50 terabytes. The role involves several day-to-day responsibilities. Some responsibilities include attending project meetings, handling ad hoc requests (such as adding table space to databases), regular maintenance and backups, performance issues, and performing database refreshes of non-production systems from production environments.

They will also provide technical expertise in the design, implementation, and maintenance of relational database management systems (RDBMSs) and data integration systems that support corporate business applications. They are responsible for the technical support of multiple database and middleware environments, from various vendors, that run company-wide business applications and which are accessed by multiple departments. This DBA will work closely with other areas of IT and the Project Management Office to create an efficient, fault tolerant environment for corporate data.

Skills and Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of experience as a Database Administrator.

• Strong DBA experience with Oracle or SQL server databases (SQL preferred).

• Minimum 3 years of experience working in Unix/Linux systems.

• Automation experience using scripting (PowerShell, Unix shell scripting, or PL/SQL).

• Maintain development, test, and production of RDBMS environments. - Experience working with Command Line.

• Project management experience.

• Minimum of 2 years of application database experience with a major (PeopleSoft, Oracle EBS, Storms, etc.) application provider. null
