Position Summary

General Summary/Responsibilities:

The Respiratory Care Education Coordinator is responsible for all education and training processes in Respiratory Care Services. The Education Coordinator will personally oversee, perform, and/or arrange clinical competencies or training sessions for new orientees, students and staff. He/she may conduct instruction for all interdisciplinary staff members. New modalities, equipment, services, policies and procedures will be executed, documented, and monitored by the Education Coordinator. The Education Coordinator will collaborate with Premier Health system services to provide interdisciplinary education. The Education Coordinator will also assist the Respiratory Leadership team with implementation, updating, and creation of policies and procedures. He/she ensures customer satisfaction and participates in service recovery as required. The Education Coordinator will provide input and participate in evaluation process, maintains multi-directional communication to address issues and concerns. The Education Coordinator assists in day to day staffing functions as requested. The Coordinator will assist with and promote quality goals. The Education Coordinator will primarily support the Respiratory Services team at UVMC, Miami Valley Hospital North, Miami Valley Hospital South and Jamestown.

Education

Minimum Level of Education Required: Bachelor's degree

Additional requirements:

§ Type of degree: Applied Science or the Equivalent

§ Area of study or major: Respiratory Care or Equivalent

§ Preferred educational qualifications: N/A

§ Position specific testing requirement: N/A

Licensure/Certification/Registration

§ Valid Ohio Respiratory Care License

§ Valid registered respiratory therapist credential through the NBRC.

§ Must be BLS and ACLS certified upon hire.

§ Must obtain PALS and NRP within 90 days of hire dependent on class availability

§ Preferred certification - NRP Instructor Status

Experience

Minimum Level of Experience Required: 3 - 5 years of job related experience

Prior job title or occupational experience: Registered Respiratory Therapist

Prior specific functional responsibilities: Critical Care and Emergency Department experience

Preferred experience: Previous classroom teaching and clinical preceptor experience.
