Job Summary
The fixed term Ensemble Coordinator provides administrative and operational support for the large musical ensembles at Rensselaer, which include the Rensselaer Orchestra, Concert Choir, and Wind Symphony. The Ensemble Coordinator will also serve as piano accompanist for the Rensselaer Concert Choir. Attendance at evening rehearsals is required as well as concerts for the large ensembles. This appointment runs from August or September through December 31, 2024, and will require an average of 20 hours per week.
Minimum Qualifications
High School/Equivalent
Five (5) years of related experience
Proficiency in advanced piano sight-reading and music reading fluency
Relevant combinations of education, training and experience may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications
Vocational Degree in Music
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Fluency in music reading
• Sight-reading of piano music
• Knowledge of the ensemble music distribution processes and protocols
• Attention to detail and ability to manage complex logistics involving equipment and students
• Effective and professional communication skills both verbal and written
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to work collaboratively with others
• Requires excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
• Requires problem solving skills involving complex situations
• Ability to plan and coordinate multiple schedules
• Ability to lead rehearsals and record practice tracks

Starting Salary/Rate
Expected hiring rate of pay: $25.00 per hour
