Job Title: Automotive Technician - Retrofit Installer
Job Description
Vehicle customization from dealership orders and repairs on vehicles from the OEM assembly plant at our location in Troy, MI. As a member of the retrofit team, you will perform part updates and rework on new and gently used vehicles to ensure they have the production parts and the current software package. The work varies from heavy repairs to light repair and frequently includes software flashing. You will also maintain proper documentation and follow procedures.
Responsibilities
Read service procedures as written by the OEM service engineers.
Access and utilize OEM systems for software flashing, labor guides, and service procedures.
Evaluate repairs and diagnose issues when repairing a vehicle.
Possess and use a variety of automotive tools, including some specialty tools.
Inspect incoming and outgoing vehicles.
Perform test drives and functionality vehicle tests.
Document any additional issues found and inform the Team Leader/Manager in a timely manner.
Complete projects independently without intervention.
Interact and communicate effectively and professionally with the client team.
Consistently meet labor time guidelines for multiple repairs.
Work independently and off-site with minimal resources in various conditions.
Maintain a clean workstation and work environment.
Essential Skills
Experienced technician in engine, transmission, and electrical repairs/troubleshooting.
Possess a mechanic tool set.
Ability to lift 40 lbs.
Reliable attendance and a positive attitude.
Willingness to learn.
Shifts
Openings are available on both 1st shift (6:00 am - 2:30 pm) and 3rd shift (9:00 pm - 5:30 am, with a $2+/hour shift premium). The position is based on a 40-hour week, with opportunities for 2-3 hours of overtime past the shift and optional double time on Saturdays.
Job Type & Location
This is a 6 month Contract to Hire position (good performers will go permanent) based out of Troy, Michigan.
