About the Role

Magna New Mobility is a startup inside Magna International, a mobility technology company and one of the largest automotive suppliers in the world. The New Mobility team is building a suite of new products and services to solve complex challenges associated with moving people and goods at scale. We are utilizing Magna’s technology building blocks and capabilities into new markets and use cases. So far we have advanced solutions in micromobility markets (eg Yulu, Yuma, Cartken, among others) and have other projects and target markets still in development around industrial material handling, commercial and autonomous vehicles.

We are hiring a highly skilled, motivated and experienced Purchasing Manager to oversee all purchasing activities, negotiate contracts, and manage supplier relationships at our Troy, Michigan facility. The ideal candidate should have deep knowledge of procurement strategies, strong negotiation skills, and the ability to balance cost optimization with high-quality standards.

Your Responsibilities

  • Manage the commercial relationship for assigned components and commodities, sourcing components, and ensuring technical requirements are met within cost, quality, and safety objectives

  • Support advanced project development, executing regional commodity RFQs, and maintaining the Platform Price Library

  • Optimize the procurement process and ensure timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials, supplies, and services

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies to optimize costs, ensure on-time delivery, and maintain high-quality standards.

  • Lead contract negotiations and manage the contract lifecycle to ensure compliance with policies and legal requirements.

  • Optimize inventory levels through effective inventory management practices.

  • Develop and maintain procurement documentation, including purchase orders and supplier contracts.

  • Work closely with engineers to guide component selection and obtain competitive pricing.

Who we are looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in in business or other related field.

  • Supervisory or Managerial experience (2-5 years) would be considered a strong asset

  • Previous experience purchasing in a manufacturing environment

  • Professional certifications such as Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) or Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) are a plus

  • Automotive experience is required

  • Excel, Word and computer working knowledge required

  • Inventory management, financial and sales & marketing understanding an asset
